Is the Ukraine Army sending emergency reinforcements to Pokrovsk as of Sept 1, 2024?
They are.
The situation is dire.
Pokrovsk is a key logistical hub to supply Donbas.
Desperate to shore up Ukrainian defenses around Pokrovsk, a city with a pre-war population of 60,000 and an important logistics hub 25 miles west of the ruins of Avdiivka in eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian national guard has deoyed one of its handful of offensive brigades—the Kara-Dag Brigade.
The movement of the approximately 2,000-person brigade, from its normal position in southern Ukraine to an unfamiliar battlefield in the east, underscores the urgency of Ukraine’s problems between Avdiivka and Pokrovsk.
“The backbone of Ukraine’s logistics in Donetsk Oblast is under threat,” Ukrainian analysis group Frontelligence Insight explained. Pokrovsk “has become a key delivery and railroad distribution hub, facilitating the supply of Ukrainian forces across a broad front line.”
Ukraine and Russia are playing a game of chicken.
Ukraine is invading Russia, but that requires troops from the front lines.
Russia wants to keep pressure on in Donbas but that requires leaving the homeland undefended.
So they are seeing who will blink first.
